About Us!
We are a working group representing a broad range of community and labor interests who believe that the changing climate is a working class issue and should not be separated as an issue just for "environmentalists."
Many on our committee have a history of working in the Labor Movement which positions us to focus our work on building a campaign for a transition from a fossil fuel based economy to a clean, sustainable and efficient energy system that will not only serve to eliminate the use of fossil fuels, but will create millions of family wage jobs. Because of the historic split between labor and environmentalists over jobs, we see our special role as fighting for jobs while educating on the climate.
We understand that people need work and in this system we can't afford to be choosy so we don't oppose projects. Instead we work to help the environmental movement to understand the need for good jobs. And we work to help the labor movement to understand that dealing effectively with the climate crisis will necessarily create millions and millions of good jobs.
Climate change is the greatest crisis that humans have ever faced. It demands our greatest mobilization. And it offers opportunities to forge a new and satisfying life for future generations. And we need to get to work on it right now!
