- Invites diverse membership inclusive of the many frontline communities directly affected by climate change and the necessary transition to a decarbonized sustainable economy; and commits to fostering internal practices and processes that support and value all members.
- Builds long-term relationships with worker-labor and climate-environmental justice organizations in Oregon, with a special focus in the greater Portland area.
- Pursues specific projects aligned with this mission in collaboration with worker-labor and climate-environmental justice partners.
- Encourage unions to see the climate crisis as an urgent issue for all working people and to grapple with the challenges and conflicts posed by the climate crisis’ disparate impacts on different sectors, crafts, and frontline communities (low-income, indigenous, and people of color).
- Encourage climate-environmental organizations to see workers and labor as a frontline community exposed to the warming climate and attendant hazards, and to advocate for labor’s full participation in shaping the transition to a sustainable economy.
- Hold local and state governments accountable for the well-being of workers and other frontline communities, insisting that they enact and enforce workplace regulations and public procurement policies consistent with a just transition to a sustainable economy and grounded in high-road wages and labor standards.
- Support policies that augment social welfare, recognizing that a socially just and ecologically sustainable economy requires equitable and universal access to robust public goods, including education, healthcare, child care, eldercare, pensions, housing, and transportation.
